Activities

When do we meet?

We usually meet together on Sundays 4:30pm-6:30pm. Some weeks we meet later for a meal or earlier, for example if there is a picnic or nature walk.

We finish on time and people can head home and put well-fed kids to bed and prepare for the new week.

Why Sunday evening?
It means that Sunday mornings can be kept free to connect with friends through sport, markets, coffee or even visit friends’ churches.

Weeknights tend to be tiring and unsuitable for school kids. Saturdays are usually busy for people, Saturday nights are often about visiting or party time.

What happens?
A rhythm that includes Ethos Pathos and Logos (Or Way, Word and Works)
  • A time to focus on God (Eg. Singing, meditation, communion, prayer, art, listening for God)
  • A time to grow in our practice (Eg. Bible Study, Lifestyle issue, learning a spiritual practice, Q&A time)
  • A time to engage others (Eg. Prayer for others, activities that demonstrate God’s love, public events etc)
  • An opportunity to be community (Eg. Meals, birthday parties, one-one catch ups, practical care for those unwell etc)
This rhythm could be seen in the Sunday gathering but also across a longer season (Eg. A week for worship and communion, a week for input, a week for outreach of some sort, a week over a meal)

What's next?

As Haven grows and we get a sense of who is participating, there will be

occasional activities such as:

  • Communion around a meal
  • Neighbourhood ‘Common Change’ meals
  • Reporting and discussing of possible needs and projects to participate in locally
  • Kids and families activities
  • Parenting courses
  • Alpha
  • Prayer walking a part of the municipality
  • Guest presenters or public lecture on some issue of interest
  • Retreats or camps

Other Groups?

We are also in conversation with others who would like to explore

starting their own 'havens' in their own neighbourhoods.
